Are you one of those people who come up with off-the-cuff ideas and never expect anyone to take any notice of you?
Well Rob is, and for some reason last summer, someone decided to listen to what he had to say and agreed his latest hair-brained scheme was actually a good idea.....cycling the entire length of Britain, over 980 miles, all in the name of charity and of course to shake off the nickname “fatboy”.
That person who listened, nodded and didn’t quite comprehend what they were about to sign up for was Sara. Although quite the athletic type (well, at least compared to Rob – he thinks paying for gym membership without actually going is enough to justify drinking 10 pints and eating fish and chips every week) the last time Sara had been on a bike she had fallen into a ditch with all her worldly belongings on her back somewhere in South East Asia.
It was at this point that they realised they would need to recruit someone with at least a little bit of biking experience. After all their friends had stopped laughing, they knew there was only one man they could turn to – Doug, one time Ironman, long time wino. Now despite being a grumpy old Scot who coined the “fatboy” nickname, Doug didn’t laugh; in fact he too thought it was a great idea.....and so it began.
