The team are putting themselves through two weeks of wind, rain and irate drivers in order to raise money for three very worthwhile charities – The Alzheimer’s Society, Macmillan Cancer Support and MaAfrika Tikkun UK. You can find out more about each one below.
In order to collect donations, we have set up JustGiving accounts as this is not only the most secure method of collecting donations online, it also means the charities get their money faster and can claim Gift Aid.
Unfortunately we are unable to have one page for all three charities, therefore unless you have a strong preference to one charity, we would be extremely grateful if you could either split your donation three ways or donate to the charity with the lowest running total to bring them to equal amounts. Below provides some information about the three charities and the relevant JustGiving pages.
Alternatively, if you do not wish to make a donation via JustGiving, please Contact Us.

Alzheimer’s Society is the leading charity for people with dementia and carers, working across the country to help hundreds of thousands of people, now and in future enjoy a better quality of life.
In communities across England, Wales and Northern Ireland staff and volunteers provide essential local support to people with dementia, families and friends. Or you can visit www.alzheimers.org.uk for more information, advice or to be connected to Talking Point, an online support forum run by people with dementia and carers.
Alzheimer's Society campaigns for and champions the rights of people living with dementia and the millions of people who care for them. Through campaigning we ensure that the voices of people with dementia are heard.
Through our award winning research programme we are adding to the body of knowledge about dementia each year. Funding research identified as a priority by people with dementia, carers and their families. This work is supported by staff behind the scenes, working to raise funds, promote quality, manage our resources and support our staff and volunteers.

MaAfrika Tikkun was established in South Africa in 1994 by the late Chief Rabbi Cyril Harris and Dr Bertie Lubner with Nelson Mandela as Patron in Chief. Our vision is of a South Africa which, through empowerment and education is able to lift itself out of the spiral of poverty and disease.
MaAfrika Tikkun aims to empower and transform previously disadvantaged South African communities by focusing on vulnerable children and youth. This is achieved by investing in and delivering service excellence in the areas of education, economics, health and social services, which operate out of community centres. MaAfrika Tikkun works in all instances together with local community structures to ensure that it is ultimately the communities themselves who have ownership and control of the programmes initiated and driven by MaAfrika Tikkun.
The organisation today is an award-winning NGO currently working in informal settlements situated around Johannesburg (Diepsloot, Orange Farm and Alexandra Township) and Cape Town (Delft and Mfuleni), helping thousands of families every week.
MaAfrika Tikkun currently cares for over 13,000 beneficiaries in 5 townships and has trained over 420 community members to act as community healthcare workers.
Macmillan are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. It's not only patients who live with cancer, so Macmillan also help carers, families and communities. They guide people through the system, supporting them every step of the way. Macmillan fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and build cancer care centres. But they give so much more than medical help.
People need practical support at home, so Macmillan provide anything from some precious time off for a carer, to a lift to hospital. People need emotional support, so they listen, advise and share information though their CancerLine, website, support groups and trained professionals. People need financial help to cope with the extra costs cancer can bring, so Macmillan give benefits advice, and grants for anything from heating bills to travel costs. Together they listen, learn, and act to help people live with cancer.
